Meyer-zum-Gottesberge Prize 2020 for Dr. Nicole Rosskothen-Kuhl

September 09, 2020: Dr. Nicole Roßkothen-Kuhl, Head of the Neurobiological Research Laboratory at the ENT Clinic, University Medical Center Freiburg and member of the Bernstein Center Freiburg, is awarded with the Meyer-zum-Gottesberge Prize 2020 of the German Society of Audiology (DGA).

Outstanding performance in the field of hearing research

The prize is in recognition of her excellent research work on the topic of spatial hearing in early deafened cochlear implant (CI) users. She developed the first behavioral setup for CI-supplied rats to investigate whether the temporal synchronization of CIs is significant for the hearing perception of these patients. As a result of this study it could be shown that, in contrast to the current clinical standard, even early deaf CI users achieve very good spatial hearing when both implants are perfectly synchronized.
